Matisyahu Video Site

Continuing on with the movie theme - Matisyahu appears on screen in a new film called.
“Buddy Gilbert Comes Alive”. Which is a movie about the singer/writer who just drove around and never really got anywhere.

Matisyahu plays a Chassid which should help make a very entertaining movie. Hopefully this film will be out by Chanukah.

Matisyahu can also be heard in the soundtrack of the film “Knocked Up”

Just watched this very funny Adam Sandler movie.
Highly recommended if you want some light entertainment.

If the answer is yes to either question, then book yourself onto KlezFest London for a week of music and extreme fun this summer. You will learn how to dance traditional Eastern European Jewish dances, sing mesmerising melodies, and discover how to play Klezmer on your instrument with some of the finest musicians in the world with lots of opportunities to perform.

Sunday 10 - Tisha B’av event, a special way to mark this historic Jewish day and consider your role in society, as well as sing some stunningly beautiful nigunim… (free)

Monday 10 - Ilana Cravitz Book launch - a how-to guide to Klezmer published by Oxford University Press (free glass of wine!) followed by A Dance to Remember Michael, one of a series of tributes to the shocking death of a good friend and klezmer musician. (£5 after 8:45pm)

Tuesday 12th 8:15pm - KlezFest: The Next Generation - find out who are the young upcoming Klezmer bands of the future (£5)

Wednesday 13th: Klezmer Klimax - an incredible concert of all the KlezFest faculty led by Grammy Award winner, Frank London. Tickets £17.50 / 13.50 students - available from Ticketweb - www.ticketweb.co.uk (limited availability on the door)

Thursday 14th: Israeli Klezmer night - a chance to see AndraLaMoussia - a great Israeli Klezmer Fusion band from Israel, and the legendary Moshe Berlin, Israeli Meron style clarinettist. (£5)

KlezFest is Directed by the incredible Frank London of the Grammy award winning band The Klezmatics and the faculty include some of the top names in world Klezmer including Jeff Warschauer, Deborah Strauss, Cookie Segelstein, Josh Horowitz, Merlin and Polina Shepherd and Mark Rubin. Our special guests this year include the amazing Israeli clarinettist Moshe Berlin who will introduce a very different Klezmer tradition the Hassidic Klezmer style known as the Meron style. Andreas Schmitges, the director of the Yiddish Dance School introduces charismatic and inventive dancer Steve Weintraub (USA) who will be leading us through many of the variations Klezmer dances, showing us some great new tricks and discovering ways of developing new dances based on the tradition. Another great artist to add to our roster this year is Joanne Borts, (USA) a Broadway actress/singer specialising in Yiddish Theatre who is going to add some razzmatazz and glitz to the proceedings, teaching alongside Shura Lipovsky, the Song School director.

KlezFest is ideal for musicians who have a good command of their instruments right up to professional musicians, from folk, Jazz or classical backgrouds. Vocalists and dancers from beginner to professional are all welcome.
